Description
Fresh bread at home! A simple recipe for loaves that are soft inside and perfectly crispy on the outside.
Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons Instant Yeast (1 packet)
2 teaspoons Kosher salt
2 1/4 cups warm water
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, salt, and yeast using a wooden spoon. Create a well in the center of the mixture. Pour in 2 ¼ cups of warm water and stir until fully combined. The dough should be loose and sticky. If the dough seems too dry, add an additional ¼ cup of warm water and mix again.
Cover the bowl with a plastic film and let the dough rest for 30 minutes in a warm area. After resting, stretch and fold the dough over itself in the bowl. Cover again and allow it to rest for another 60 minutes.
When the dough is well risen and bubbly, gently turn it out onto a generously floured surface. The dough will be very wet, so coat both the surface and your hands with plenty of flour. Using a floured sharp knife, cut the dough into three equal pieces.
Gently twist and stretch each piece of dough lengthwise. Place the loaves on a large baking tray that’s lightly oiled and floured, leaving space between them. Score the tops with a floured sharp knife. Sprinkle with flaky salt for extra crunch (optional). Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 450°F with a bowl of water on the bottom rack.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Enjoy!
